2012.05.19 - Panama: Increase of the company registration fee.

Panama: On 8th May 2012, the Legislative Assembly of Panama adopted and published Law No. 28 providing for the increase of the statutory fee payable for the registration of S.A. companies (Sociedadas Anonymous), as well as for Private Interest Foundations.

From 9th May 2012 onwards, S.A. companies must pay a statutory registration fee in the amount of USD 300 (this was previously USD 250).

The annual statutory fee payable by S.A. companies in subsequent years will remain the same (i.e. 300 USD per year).

Under Law No. 28, Private Interest Foundations must pay a statutory fee for registration in the amount of USD 350 (this was previously USD 250), and subsequently USD 400 at each extension (this was previously USD 300).

International Overseas Services comments:

As it is known, in addition to the above fixed registration fee, in Panama there is also a fee on the declared authorized capital payable at the time of registration.

The additional fee on the authorized capital is calculated in accordance with the specific algorithm for each interval (for example, it will be USD 671 if the authorized capital amounts to USD 1 million).

In this case the value of subsequent annual fees does not depend on the declared authorized capital, and their amount remains fixed.
